Should I take my piercing out?

I got a "snug" which is a piercing of the inner cartilage across from the tragus. It's been a week and it's still swollen. I've had quite a few piercings and I realize they hurt for a while but this one is worse than I'm used to. I need to know if I should take it out before it causes permanent damage.
