Did McCain just suddenly realize that no one liked his "100 years war" stance?
But his speech wasn't a policy commitment. As I listened to it, I though he was summarizing a work of fiction, a dream, a fairy tale. He made no concrete promises, while painting a rosy picture of what the world would look like as his term ended. How he was going to do any of this was left unsaid, at least in the segments that I heard. But even now, he didn't commit to getting out, but having somehow achieved a victory, the majority of troops would come home. So how many is that -- 50%+ 1? I wonder how many contractors would still be there?
