Should i risk putting a earing back in my infected ear?

i got my cartilage periced and 5 weeks later changed it. it then got infected so i was told by the doctors to take it out and just leave it to close up. its been 2 days now and it seems to be better, and i want to try put a earing back in it cause its such a waste of a peircing and i liked it..... im a quick healer anyway, it just got infected because it was a rubbish earing i used. should i do it?
